From my friends I have picked up that they do not know what to get me for my birthday in a couple of weeks.

People, it is very simple. Unless you know it's a thingie I want and specifically have asked for, get me consumables or nothing. Nothing is fine. The fact that you are showing up is reward enough for me. Seriously.

And flowers. Do not buy them, unless you know they will not poison my cats.

Simple as.

Sleeping with the enemy

Haha, Zetti is so funny. Instead of all the places she could sleep, she chooses one of the cat trees, where she hardly fits anymore, sharing it with the rat.

Turkey

Having a friend over for dinner tonight, and was out of inspiration until I got to Migros. A turkey leg! Why didn't I think of that?

Planning to use my new hot curry paste and then grill it in the oven. Yum! Or so I hope.

Bottle container

Have a blue plastic container to put empty bottles in, before they get transported to the bottle bank. Blue really doesn't fit into my fabulous flat, so bought a new black container. Looks better, doesn't it?

Key West dinner

I think it's safe to say that the diet I was attempting went to hell. Probably sometime between the apero and the starter.

But gotta say the company and the ambience made it worth it!

Leprosy

Since a week or so I have a rash on my throat. At first I was sure it was a thingie that would go away in a day or two. Now after a week I am trying to treat it with the creme I got after the self-treating of my hand (Hepagel). If I'm trying to think positive it has diminished in the spot it started, but at the same time it has spread.

I'm pretty sure it's leprosy.

Diet

Felt I had splashed out a bit, and pants felt tight, so decided to cut carbs for a bit. 10 days I lasted. Then the cinnamon rolls from Ikea I had in the freezer had to go. First I baked 4 of them, later in the eve the remaining 2. No character whatsoever.

And now I'm looking at the last bag. Wanna bet how long they last?

Cats make me laugh

There are so many reasons for loving my cats, but the best one is that they make me laugh.

This morning I had trouble waking up. But when the door was pushed open, and the cats dragged a whole bathroom mat (and not a small one!) in under my bed I had to wake up and laugh. Which I think was the point. Can only assume the cats thought I was a lazy bitch, and needed to get up.

The fact that when I throw a mouse, and they look like Fred Flintstone driving a car, not getting their claws into the granite floor, and are kinda running without getting anywhere before getting the speed of light.

How they chase each other around, bushy-tailed, believing they are lions, just the next minute being tired, falling asleep in a heap.

Yes, they add more fun into my life!

Docu-soaps

I just love docu-soaps. Whether it's neighbours quarreling, people not being able to manage their finances or others who bought a house in need of renovation and know nothing about construction work.

They all make me feel superior, and like a normal person!

If a neighbour does something wrong, or is annoying in any way, talk to him or her! How difficult can it be to confront?

People who take loans for consuming, and prefer to buy stuff instead of feeding their kids, they deserve to end up with nothing and their kids ending up in a foster family with common sense.

And if you cannot build, why buy a house in need of renovation? I wouldn't dream of it, there are people much better fit to hit a nail than I.

Yes, these shows are feel-good for normal people like myself!

Questionnaires

Apart from questionnaires regarding my personal data, I cannot resist filling in feedback forms. I'll go as far as saying I take pleasure in it. Be it a hotel, a flight, or as recent case may be, a letter from Pfister asking me for feedback, after first thanking me profusely for ordering an (extremely) expense piece of furniture. As they should.

And I am honest, honest as in verging on rude. My thoughts are, if they are asking for my feedback, they shall have it. So told them I could've used a bit more sucking-up when signing to buy this furniture piece. Will be interesting to see if I get contacted...

Pants!

Bought a new pair of pants yesterday. Having walked around in either shorts or the same pants for the last 6 months I thought it was about time. And, I'd like to add, fit into size 38!

Just for fun I put a bright pink top on, and some high heels. The cats got round big black eyes, and scattered away. Scary! I can understand them, usually seeing me in saggy pyjama bottoms and a top.

And yes, am going out tonight. Didn't just dress up for the cats. How sad do you think I am?

A bold decision

Took a bold decision today regarding my cleaning woman. She is good, don't get me wrong, but it's the fourth time she's taking the piss. Not showing up at all, being late, forgetting appointments, and not picking up the phone. I had enough.

Taking a bit of a risk here, since I want the place to be spotless for my party but what the hell. Worst case I can always find a homeless or something to do the job. Or on second thought, a couple of the guests are arriving a day early to my party. HAHAHA!

Massage

Went for a massage yesterday. It was a gift voucher I received, that was about to expire.

I am a little wary towards people touching me, but I guess it's good training to go for a massage, and as soon as I learn to relax I can even enjoy it. And above all, I'm sure it was good for my shoulders and back. Felt very relaxed afterwards.

What I didn't like was the questionnaire I was given on arrival. They wanted to know my full name, address, age and medical history. Why would I give that away to people I do not know? Naaah weeey.

3 rules

Got a text from some friends who have chosen this inopportune time to move to Spain from Switzerland. Just before my party!

Anyway, they sent their best wishes and reminded me of the three rules when you turn...well my age:

1. Take life less seriously.

2. Avoid church.

3. Reduce drinking to one bottle a day.

To which I responded; check, check and worth a try.

No cancer

Yesterday I went to an event organized by the Zürich cancer fund, in order to support cancer-sick people. Or so I thought. Thought I was gonna learn a bit more, and see how I could help.

Didn't happen. Turned out to be an apero without food (!). At 10.30 on a Sunday morning! Unforgivable. After that it was a concert with what can only be described as "special people". Ok, one of the singers was good, but hey, at 11.00 on a Sunday I don't want to sit there listening to music when I could be in bed. Music events are for the evening, sipping a glass of wine.

The information turned out to be 2-minute long and delivered in Swiss German.

After 1,5 hours we left.

Speech

For several reasons I haven't been out much lately, but today I almost forced myself to go out for at least a drink. And did.

Funny that, I always get my best ideas while sipping a drink watching people. Today I realized I'm having a party in 3 weeks, and should probably start to prepare. I have to say something. After all, people are travelling in from abroad to see me, and I have to make a speech of some sort.

So today I have an embryo of an idea. Hope it'll seem as good tomorrow. And obviously needs some work.
