Some of the food and please note that although we used paper plates, there was silverware cutlery!

Party II
Before the party I thought to myself, how difficult can it be to do all the food and prep by myself. HAHAHAHA! How could I have forgotten how much there is to do?
Very good thing I invited people to stay so that I could get them to help. It was everything from washing windows (!) to take the trash out, from helping preparing the food trays to shopping, even repairing a broken lamp. Not entirely sure my guests were expecting that!
A special thanks to R and M, and to C for helping out with the serving in the evening.

Party I
It's been a busy weekend to say the least! On Friday we had a little apero in order to get into the real party-mood. On the pic guests from Norway, Finland and the US of A.

City tour
Gosh I'm good. Have a relative coming for the party, and he's terribly allergic to cats. Not a good combo, even though the sweeties will be locked into my bedroom for the party. He's so allergic he cannot be in a flat that housed furry things (I may have to remove my furry card!) at all.
Anyway, I'm a genius. 'Cause I have fabulous friends, who offer to guide them around the city for a few hours in the afternoon.
And the cherry(!) on top of the cake will be that I'll get them out of my hair in order to prepare for the party.
It's what we Swiss call a win-win situation!

The fun is starting
My first guest arrived today, all the way from the US of A. We haven't seen each other since 2007, so had a lot to catch up on. Good fun! An afternoon with some finger food, a few glasses of wine and lots and lots of talk. Cannot think of a better way to spend a Thursday.
Then I have received a package with a strict instruction on not to open until Saturday. Very, very difficult but I will oblige.
And a few cards.
Tomorrow some other friends are flying in. We'll start with a pre-party in the evening, and it'll only be more and better after that!
Wish I had more birthdays!

With a cherry on top
Hahahahaha! Got a card today. It is so tacky I had to laugh really long. It is a paper card with furry pink on the front! It's sent to me, and means I am the cherry on top of...well everything. How well my friends know me!
Thanks friends!
Thanks friends!
Alphüsli
Went to the Bahnhof market today in order to stock up for the weekend on cheese, ham and sausages. Omg, they made me taste everything and it almost became a full meal before I was done.
It feels good to shop there, since it's an association of small farmers and I'd rather support those than the big chains. But I gotta admit, it ain't cheap!

New toy
Had a friend over for dinner tonight and she brought me the best thing. A cat toy. And the cats loved her! She played with them, and in the end they were not afraid at all.
There is no friend like a cat lover.

Honest friend
Had a friend over for dinner tonight. He really enjoyed the Bulgarian schnapps I served as an apero!
Sore tits
These pics says a lot. Not only have the vets people cut open my kitten (which I agree was the plan), but they have shaved her including the top of her tits. Did the assistant in the vets office now know that cats have breasts? This bothers me.
I mean, being a woman, wouldn't it hurt if somebody cut off the top of your tit? Yes it would.
The other thing these pics tells me is that the skin of the cat is black and white. I thought the skin had the same rosy colour everywhere, but here you can clearly see where it's gonna be white or black fur. Interesting!

Faint
I am very observant to my cats behaviours. After the vets visit I have noticed that they are even more attached to me. This is fine, even though I'm terrified to step on them when they are around my feet all the time.
But I am worried about the miaows. Can hardly hear them anymore. Their miaows are like very faint, and if I want to hear them purr I have to put my ear to their bellies. Which is a frequent occurence, but still.
If I am informed correctly their vocal cords aren't in the vicinity of their ovaries, so I don't know why this has happened. Reading on the net, it says that the hormones can take months to disappear but I find nothing on the subject of faint miaows.
I suppose it could be worse, but I still worry when changes occur with my sweeties.

It has begun!
In case some of you have missed it, I have a big birthday coming up next week. Today I got my first card, sent from very good friends from South Africa who unfortunately cannot join my party.
It said:
"Even at xx it's possible for some women to look like a star.
They just have that something wonderful that disguises how ancient they are."
Hmmm.
And going on:
"Such women are truly amazing. Living life to the full, they are blessed.
Coz they don't look all withered and wrinkly or as knackered as some of the rest"
Right on!
Continuing:
"They carry their age with such dignity, you would swear that they were right at their peak. Looking elegant, graceful and gorgegous, an their bones haven't started to creak".
Like I said it myself!
And on it goes:
"So here's credit to you on your xxth. A new chapter in life is now dawning. And you really do look bloody marvellous...but you probably won't in the morning!".
Ok, so what can I say? These people get me ;).
Thanks friends! Look forward to see you in Europe soon!

Purple!
Haha, was looking in an old photo album and found this pic of me wearing ta-da purple! It was hmmm...many many years ago. Why change a winning formula?

Adrenalin off
I think that the adrenalin in my body is finally starting to wear off. Have checked on the cats every few minutes, so much I think they want to be left alone. Finally they calmed down, and went to sleep and I, chicken as I am when it comes to them, went to check their breathing and body temperature every 5 mins (yes, they were cold).
It is so sweet that they chose to sleep in my bed (Zina peeking out, Zetti under the sheet), being the safest place in the house but only Zetti managed to get up there after about an hour. It took Zina longer to regain movement of her legs. And very sweet when she tried to get into the toilet and couldn't climb...I had to help but only after a few drops came outside. She tried so hard, the little sweetie.
And their poor bellies. Stripped of fur, and with scars. Tiny but still.
But I am soooo happy to have them back with me. They give more to my life than anything or anybody else. I can trust them completely. Nice feeling.

The cats are home!
After having slept very little last night, I had an idea that I was gonna pick up the cats, and then we could have a nice snooze together this afternoon while they recovered.
Omg, I'm terrified to leave them alone more than a few minutes! When we got home Zina didn't move at all, and was cold. I had to massage her for a long time, wrapped in a blanket. Zetti was more her usual self, but both are walking slowly around on wobbly short legs, tipping over now and then. They also have trouble focusing with their eyes.
For some reason they want to be in the bedroom, feeling safe there I presume.
I cannot even laugh at them looking funny, 'cause I still worry so much. This is terror!

Cuties
I know, you all think I'm sad but I'm going thru the pics of my little kittens and found these ones. The cutest cats in the world!
Well
Just talked to the vets practise. Everything went well, and they are slowly waking up. Phewwww! I have been so worried. I can pick them up later this afternoon.
Cannot wait to have my darlings back with me. It's awfully empty without them.

Anxiety
I don't know who's most terrified today. Me or the cats. After a brief hunt this morning, where I had to fool them with food (without giving them any, and after not having eaten since 6 pm yesterday) I managed to put them in the transportation cage.
Then we ventured outside, taking the bus. I was mostly afraid it was gonna be packed, but it turned out that the most difficult part was to carry them. My gosh, they have become heavy, at least together.
Now they are with the vet, waiting to be mutilated. My poor little ones!
In three hours I am to call them and check how it all went. Cannot wait!
