See the two tiny white and blue cables to the left? Those were dangling lose, that was what has caused my telephone problem now for nearly two months. And as my hero said "they didn't pop out by themselves". So I now know that I am the No 1 connection in the house. These are important things.
That plus the fact that I now have a functioning telephone and permanent wireless internet connection!
