Swiss service
I am not entirely certain whether the title is an oxymoron or not. As much as I like the Swiss, I do not appreciate their sense of service at all times.
Take for example the supermarkets like Migros and Coop. Closing time approx 7pm Monday-Friday. Hello? Most people are busy during daytime. On Saturdays open until 4pm. Sunday closed. Does that sound like customer service to you?
I'm used to supermarkets being open 8am-10pm 365 days a year. Some things are hard to get used to. Yes, I know people working in this service business need their time off too, but does it have to be exactly when others like myself have time to shop?

'swiss service'
'used to'? come on, how long have you been in Zurich, 5-6 years?
anyway, the Swiss don't do customer service.
since you're very proud of your online abilities (and now have wireless) why not do your shopping online too, then you can do it whenever you please, or just go to the train station like everyone else.
Of course I'm used to it, I just don't like it.
I also "used to" do online shopping in Denmark where I lived on the 5th floor without any stairs, but food I actually prefer to shop personally. Drinks are another matter.

Just for information: Coop at HB is open from 7am till 9pm Monday to Friday - 7am till 7pm on Saturday. Migros at HB almost the same. But 7pm might be a little too early for you, since you seem to be a night person. - lovezurich
Swiss Service
I see the problem you need to do the online shopping in German - too bad for someone who does not like to adapt to the Swiss habits. Thought you like it in Zurich.

Migros is more up-to-date - you can shop in Englsh:

Love my Zurich
I do like it in Zurich, I love it actually. But it doesn't mean I like EVERYTHING about it. Besides, if everything was honky-dory I wouldn't have anything to write about, now would I?
And yes, I do know online shopping, but as I said, I prefer to shop food in person.
Swiss service
As a Swiss: You're right! I also don't like the early closing of the shops. When I get home there is normaly half an hour left for shopping. If I'm very lucky I'll have a whole hour time.
Exactly. And on Saturdays it's packed!
