After about 5 years it was time to move on. I had a brand new education, and not only did I graduate top of my class, I was also the first one to land a job. I was goal-oriented and had chosen two fields that seemed interesting to me. Or at least the best paid (at this point in my life I was tired of being poor). Those were the medical industry and the quite new IT industry.
So the moving truck went up north to the capital. My boyfriend at the time lived in suburbia, but had an assignment in Melbourne so his flat was empty. There I stayed for a couple of months, until he came back and because I'm the typical "can manage on my own"-person, I had seen to that I had found a flat of my own by then.
Another suburb, horrible now when I think back. One of these places it took half an hour with the train from the city to get back to.
It was reasonably big with 2 bedrooms, but grey, plastic and really boring. It was a place where the police came to regularly to pick up the drunk guy next door. I lived on the 5th floor, in a 7 floor building.
Just now thinking back, probably the most horrible place I ever lived in. But hey, I survived, and after 3 years I moved on.
