Who knew that the hippie movement started in Switzerland? I didn't. But I just saw a documentary about how it all began on a hill in the southern parts of Switzerland, just outside Ascona.
The pioneers named it Monte Verità, the hill of truth, and for years in the beginning of the last century they were "hippieing" away there being naked, eating vegetarian and being "one with nature".
I would say that they were real pioneers, since there are people today doing the same thing. And not without a point. Apart from the naked thing, which for me personally is private.
And it was most interesting to see the take the producers took on the beginning and end, first with the remarks "when you've been dead for 80 years, you get a clearer perspective on life" and then with parallels to today about globalization, raw capitalism, financial crisis, foreign wars and fast communications spanning the globe, which is actually true, even though we think a lot has happened in the last 100 years.
Anyway, a film I can recommend, it's available another 20+ days, so be quick.
