I met Lassie

Where I come from the expression "I met Lassie" means that you are name-dropping. You are for example telling a friend of a famous person you have seen, or spotted. It could also mean that somebody told you that they have seen somebody remotely famous. It is seen as being somewhat pathetic. Like you don't have your own life.

Which reminds me, I saw this guy this afternoon with two cats. Only the cats were not real, even though they were moving. Like Tamagotchi. How sad is it not to bring two fake cats with you to a bar? And cuddle them!

Anyway, I am sorry to say that some of my family members are "I met Lassie" people, but there you are. Cannot choose them, cannot get rid of them. And, if I think about it, they do have other qualities. Better ones.

Lassie.
