No, I'm not referring to myself, but my neighbour, when she goes on vacation she usually leaves me the food that won't last until she's back. Today it was a bunch of tomatoes, some cheese, ham and two big containers of nature yogurt, which I'm still not sure what to do with. Not a fan of nature yogurt.
Anyway, had a guest for lunch today and he got served with grilled tomatoes with cheese on top, rolled ham slices with wasabi and some homemade parmesan bread I had in the freezer.
He was intrigued about the wasabi, and so I showed him the bottle so he'd knew what it looked like. That's when I noticed 'best before July 2012'. Oops!
It's a nice guy, and I really hope I haven't poisoned him. On the other hand, I know that food companies are forced to put an end date to their products, and that it's not always necessary.
For example, I found some Läkerol at my aunts place once, where best-before was 10 years earlier. They tasted quite all right.

ah, its only 'best' before that date, still good after, unless your nose tells you otherwise I say.
Cucumber and natural yoghurt with mint or chives (and a bit of salt) makes a good summer salad/dip. or add fruit/sugar/flavor to make it just like other yoghurt
That's a good rule of thumb.
I'm thinking yogurt dip for Monday evening :).
