Clean water

Another thing I was thinking about, lying in the boat on my stomach staring into the water. Everybody says that Zurichsee is one of the cleanest lakes in Switzerland. How come then you cannot see the bottom of the lake? When I was snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef I could easily see the bottom of the ocean...like 12 meters down. How come I cannot do that here if it's so clean?

'clean water'
ah, but have you ever swam in a lake in Australia? there's a comparison that makes swiss lakes look very clean.

I don't swim in Aussie lakes, who knows what kind of Nessie will be in there? At the Barrier Reef I was swimming inside a net to avoid jellyfish, about 2 hours from shore.

Heard that Zürichsee is about 60 m deep in one place, even though your article says more. I know for a fact that it's not that deep inside Zürihorn.

'Clean water'

Why? Maybe because of algae, plankton and what ever there is in the water and lives. That explains the color. At least I hope so.

Yes, but how does it explain that the Reef has water you can actually see through? They have lots of living thingies there too...
