Lost in translation

Sometimes I have trouble communicating with my Swiss friends languagewise. Partly because I am not fluent in German, and sometimes because they are not fluent in English. Reasonable explanation, isn't it? A statement like "nobody is like me baby" (meant to be a joke obviously) translated for my Swiss friend into "nobody likes me". HAHAHA!
