Amarone is an excellent wine. And if you're not somebody who knows about wine, you would easily understand if you tried to buy this wine. It's expensive.
My wine delivery guy, who accidently happened to stop by this evening, told me the following story:
Once upon a time there was a wine-tasting session in a company that sells wine. One where the people who actually sells the wine are invited to try out new wines. Which is a good thing, because the idea is that they will know what they sell (hey, there's an idea for other corporations...). Anyway, they are trying new wines, spitting it out (I know, what a waste...which is why I could never work in the wine business...spitting out wine? A crime if you ask me).
This particular time they were trying out Amarone...mmm...I start to drool just hearing about it. So the people working there tries it, spits it out and then...the manager pours the rest out. Of Amarone! A wine that cost about 80 CHF a bottle! If he worked for me I would have him shot on the spot. There are things you can get away with, and things that you cannot. Pouring Amarone in the sink is not it.
