Zürich pride

As usual, my friend who I see once a year, called me yesterday to remind me of the pride festival today. We went. And although it's very nice to see him, I think maybe the festival is no longer necessary. This year there were less costumes, less challenging people, less of everything. It was more like marching with normal people.

I'm not saying gays and lesbians are not normal, but I think they are now so accepted in the society, that there is no more need for provocation and demonstration.

For example this year Credit Suisse was the main sponsor of the parade. Can there be a more conservative sponsor? Or perhaps CS has just realized that gay people usually have a lot of money to spend? Yes, of course that's the reason.

Anyway, it was nice to catch up with my friend and the sun was shining.

PS. Hadn't seen him in a year. He: "you look good, Botox?". Me: "No, just normal fat".

Welcome to 2012

Friends of mine (even though I'm thinking of de-friending them) own a flat. They are renting it out, and looking for tenants. The top contenders were academics, doctors and the like, and were more than able to pay for the, frankly quite expensive, rent.

Yet they were turned down on account of being gays. Owners being religious. Whatever happened to "jesus welcomes all", and to be tolerant?

Nah, I don't buy their BS about "it's not about the people, it's about their way of living".

The more I think about it, the more I want to not mix with these people anymore. Hypocrites.

I think homosexuality stopped being regarded as a sickness in the 70's, at least in the Western world where we live.

My only hope is now that their youngest son turns out to be gay. Wouldn't that be a laugh?

Zürich pride

I have an acquaintance/friend who I only meet once a year. He sends me a text, asking me to join him for the Pride festival in Zürich. It's become a tradition, and I think this year it was the 4th year.

It is fun! Lots of people parading through the streets of Zürich, some wearing the most outrageous costumes! I must admit, that when I was approached by the best-looking "woman" in the parade, saying "hi Annika", I was a bit taken. Took me a few seconds to connect, and then I was delighted. He's a friend of a friend, and they were also there so we ganged up.

Every truck is labeled, so there is bank gays, police gays, adoption-for-everybody-women, amnesty queers and what-have-you. But most of all, it's a party. When I left they were still going. My friend estimated that I was one of four heteros in the parade! But hey, being a woman means you're always in minority in the business world, so I don't mind.

I was deeply disappointed though that Nivea didn't have a stand this year. Their shaving creme they used to give for free I really had use of.

Partnership

Went to a party today to celebrate a partnership of very good friends. There I had an interesting discussion about how Switzerland were the last country on earth to allow women to vote, given a lecture about direct democracy.

Later in the evening we got to discuss when gay partnerships were allowed in Switzerland (2007 I think they said), where I replied "but not in Appenzell I guess" (the canton they didn't allow women to vote until the 1990's). Touche. I think they got the message.

Nice party, as always with these friends.

Queer as folk

Did a re-run of the 3rd series of Queer as folk, and got so hooked again I had to go out and buy series 4 and 5, and now I've spent the last day not being able to stop watching. I love the interaction they have, the adventures, the sad and funny parts, not to mention the gourgeous guys. That Brian is still as tasty as ever. A pure pleasure to watch.

Spear time

I was reviewing an application letter of a friend, since everybody knows I am very picky with language (feel free to insert joke here). He'd written "and in my spear time I like to...". But as a male friend pointed out, for a man spare time is always spear time...

Men

I have two friends. They are gay and together, yet they don't like to be bundled into a group like gays only. Hey, I'm bundled together with women all the time but do I complain? Ok, so maybe I do but that's because most women are stupid. Stupid enough to rely on and trust a man. Big mistake. Huge mistake. A mistake like Julia pointed out in "Pretty Woman" to the ladies on Sunset boulevard. A point to this? Only that it's not so bad being part of a group. Makes you feel wanted, and at home.

Educational dinner

With the amount of time I spend with gays I am now almost fully trained in being a fag-hag. Yesterday certainly added some insight into gay mentality. It was hilarious! Pic from the beginning of the evening, it got somewhat wilder later...

Sheep placenta

Love my gay friends, but their ability to give presents leaves a bit to be desired to be honest. I don't know about you, but to receive a "get-younger-cream" consisting of sheep placenta may not be the best gift.
Määhää.

Gay dinner

Ah my gad. I am exhausted. Just had dinner with 5 gay guys. Imagine a girls dinner and then quadruple it! Or you could just replace relationship talk with sex. That works too. Pics later. Now I must get the last bus to go out.

My gay friend

Always fun to hang out with.

Drags

Mr Schweiz

The former one was driving one of the cars. Fair play to him supporting the sisters.

The pink club

Queer groups

Pride @ UBS is extremely funny, since UBS is the most conservative bank in Switzerland. Bet the CEO will hate this. MOHAHAHAHAHA!

The officers though...mmmm!

Gay crowd

Jeez

For the first time in my life I have marched in a gay parade. And I wasn't exactly alone. And as much fun as it is hanging out with gay friends, I am terrified of the lesbians. They all look militant and aggressive. And they all have short hair and walk like men.
But it was fun. Marching, singing, drinking, chatting, flirting. Yeah ok the last bit I didn't but there were lotsa it going on.

Gay parade

Just when I thought I had a lazy day in front of me a friend called to ask if I want to join the gay parade today. But of course. It's fun to hang out with gay guys. Plus I never turn down a party. More later. http://www.csdzurich.ch/
