I just love youtube. Now I've found the next series to which I'm already addicted. Shark tank. Five Americans, pc with three white guys, one black and one woman, all selfmade millionaires or even billionaires. They are investors and candidates come in, present their business ideas and some get funding, some not.
And it goes to show that it's not only the product that's interesting, it's how you present it and how well you have prepared.
Just like in other aspects of life.

Hallelujah!
I love these kind of clips. First you think, what the heck, how boring can it be. Then he starts to sing, and you think, how is it possible that a man looking as boring as him can sing like that!
After the first verse, when he smiles, you realize that there is more to this man that you first thought! Especially when lifts his eyebrows after the second verse. Such subtle mimic.
I guess the conclusion is you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, and let me tell you. This type of behviour in church makes me (almost) wanna go there.

Meeting the neighbours
I got a bit bored with the usual tv series I'm watching on youtube, so imagine my delight when I found one of my favs having a show on there called "Jeremy Clarkson meets the neighbours", where he travels around to other countries, finding out if our prejudices are true.
Jeremy used to (or still have?) a car show in England, and I, who judges a car by its colour, even watched that, but what makes me like him is his sense of humour. He's very funny.

Commercial tv
I watch a few American shows now and then, and also other foreign shows. What irritates me is not so much the commercials, you can always take a toilet moment, go to the kitchen or do something while the sound of people trying to sell this and that drones on, no it's something else that makes me mad.
The re-runs. So you watch the beginning of a show, and learn to fast-forward the introduction that usually lasts 1,5 minute and off you go. Until the first commercial break 10 minutes later. Ok, fine, again you go do something (refill a glass of white is my fav), but then!
Coming back after the break they give you a re-run of what happened the first 10 minutes! Do they think I have Alzheimers or am going senile? If so, it wouldn't matter would it? 'Cause then I wouldn't remember anyway. Do they think somebody just switched on the telly to start watching the program in the middle? If so, why do all the other people watching the show have to be tortured because some people can't tell time?
I don't get it. I think maybe people get dumber and dumber these days.

Spooks
Have borrowed a lot of seasons of the English series Spooks, and although it's exciting and you never know who you can trust or not, there is one thing that irritates me. Every time you get to know one of the main characters, he or she gets either killed, retires, has to go into a witness-protection-program or just disappears due to the "cannot-cope-syndrom".
It's a pity, 'cause otherwise there are good stories and plots that make you think about how much you do not know and what goes on up there in the political stratosphere.
I, however, am happy to stay where I am and live a normal life. Probably a good thing, since I'm a pretty bad liar.

Mad men
Borrowed series 1-3 of Mad men today. Gosh, that is what a man should look like! The series itself is pretty good too, but even if it wasn't I would watch just to see him.

Top gear
Last few days I got hooked (again) on Top Gear. You know, this English program about cars! Yes I know, cars don't interest me at all but the way they do the show is fab.
For example they race dogs against a car to the North pole, they make cars into amphibians, going from Dover to Calais (England to France) in water, they make a nun drive a monster truck over car wrecks, they test how fast a car is filled with water and so on. It's funny, and I cannot stop watching!

Quote
"I don't try to describe the future. I try to prevent it." Ha, love it. Said by somebody I've never heard of, Ray Bradbury.
If I could just stop the time now, I would. Life doesn't get any better than this. Or does it?

Masterchef
Found a new soap run by this guy Gordon Ramsay who I have heard about, but never really knew who he was. English bloke who somehow ended up in the US of A as a judge, together with two others, of a competition for amateur chefs. The winner will be some 250K USD richer and crowned the Masterchef.
It's fantastic. They get challenges like chopping onion, cooking for 300 marines, guessing ingredients in chilis, baking cupcakes and what have you.
What I don't like in all those soaps (since I can never be completely happy :) is the re-run of previous events in the middle of the show, and in the beginning when they show what you can expect in the show (loadsa shows here). It's like you've seen the show before you even started.
Do television people think viewers are stupid? Apparently so.
And how stupid am I then for watching it?

Reality show
Kept on watching this reality show about a hospital. What irritates me is when the doctor is examining a child, who screams constantly and when it's all done gets to hear "oh, you're such a good girl", when she wasn't at all. On the contrary, she was being a real pain.
I hope not all doctors lie like that, considering that I'm seeing one tomorrow.
And not only that, kids that go in the ambulance gets a free teddybear. And after the examination they get an icecream! Talk about spoiling the offspring.
In my day you had to be quiet in order to get a big gold star in your dentist card, a little screaming generated a small gold star and if you screamed a lot you got nothing.
Taught me that nothing comes for free in this world. That's something else than the curling parents these days, sweeping the ice for their kids making them into grownups thinking that still everything comes for free. Not helping if you ask me. The expert in raising kids...

Over the soaps
Ok, I have now spent a couple of weeks watching a lot of reality soaps. It's the one where people who cannot handle money get help with loans and cutting of credit cards, it's the other one where renovation of houses take place, it's people trying to lose weight and so on.
Now I'm starting to feel that a neck shot like they do in China isn't so bad. Line'm up, and I will shoot'm myself. How stupid can people be?
I cannot take it anymore. Gimme West Wing anyday. I'm deprived of intelligent conversations.

Germany 20 years ago
“Can you imagine the East Berliners disappointment when they tore down that wall, and on the other side was just more Germany”.
