Nelson was placed in the D block if I remember correctly. One tiny cell per person. This was where he authored the bits of papers, smuggled out in the shoes of the prisoners who were leaving, and that later became South Africas declaration of independence. This was his cell.

Can you imagine spending 24 years here and still maintain your sanity? So much that he became South Africas president? Respect man.
