Well if you think the English/Commonwealth/United Kingdom/Great Britain are out of touch with the world, that is nothing in comparison to the Americans. Have you ever come across an American who puts the country code in front of their phone number? No, they just expect everyone to know that +1 is America. But how many of them know that +41 is Switzerland? +39 is Italy? +44 is UK (or whatever...compare above), +34 is Spain, +91 is India, +61 is Australia? Not many I bet since most Americans think that Europe is one country and the rest of the world doesn't matter anyway...
