Public transportation

Blick am Abend today: 567 million passengers on trains, trams, buses and boats during 2009. That is quite an achievement considering it's some 7 million people living in Switzerland. And this is only with ZVV, the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund. Zürich only. There are less than 400,000 living in Zürich, if you stretch it perhaps a million with suburbs. So if you divide the 567 mill with 1 mill people you still get that every person travelled 567 times last year with public transportation. Isn't that something? So when you hear the US of A for example talking about saving the environment, all you gotta do is laugh. We don't do SUV's here. We travel cheaply, and we save the trees at the same time. Hurray for Switzerland!
